AirCorps Aviation, located in Bemidji, MN, is known for award-winning restorations of WWII aircraft. We also support the aerospace industry through part manufacturing, part sales, and historic document preservation. The Restoration Fabric & Upholstery Specialist is responsible for precision fabrication, assembly and maintenance of fabric aircraft structures and upholstery. 

Reports To: Structures Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain, repair, fabricate, and re-cover aircraft with fabric covering as well as upholstery of aircraft interiors and exteriors 
  • Work with fabric, vinyl, leather, composites and other materials using specified adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools and power tools 
  • Use techniques both modern and historic to refurbish fabric aircraft covering and upholstery 
  • Seek out opportunities to build new skills and develop work quality
  • Work at a reasonable pace and within defined quality standards to ensure timely completion 
  • Adapt to changing tasks and project requirements on short notice
  • Be familiar with the safe use of basic shop equipment and tools
  • Maintain safe, clean, and orderly conditions in assigned work area
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit 
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed 
  • Consistently be on time for work 
  • Use computer-based and online software and systems daily 
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations, including drug & alcohol testing policies 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be comfortable and proficient with fabric and upholstery cutting and sewing equipment and tools 
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining, repairing and fabricating fabric and upholstery (does not require experience in aircraft covering or upholstery)
  • Ability to use measurement tools and perform basic math calculations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents 
  • Be able to read, write, and speak English clearly 
  • Stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and climb on a regular basis and be able to lift 50 pounds 
  • Provide own basic hand tools

Compensation:
$22-$36/hr
