Reverse Engineering Technician

SUMMARY:

The Reverse Engineering Technician position is responsible for assisting with engineering projects and data, with a focus on reverse engineering tools and processes while helping ensure completion to the high standards associated with AirCorps Aviation.

The Reverse Engineering Technician would work out of the Engineering & Sales Office in Plymouth, MN, close by MSP International Airport, to allow for efficient travel to customer sites.

Key responsibilities include using advanced tools, technology and processes to complete reverse engineering of components and assemblies. Supports AirCorps Aviation goals for on-time delivery, quality, organization, safety, and continuous improvement.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes 3D Scans using laser scanning equipment
  • Creates features and reference geometry in Scan-to-CAD post-processing software.
  • Creates some 3D solid models, detail drawings and assembly drawings, as required.
  • Uses familiarity with destructive and non-destructive test methods to determine material chemical composition and mechanical properties.
  • Supports the Engineering Manager in the estimation of new reverse engineering efforts.
  • Executes engineer projects, to include planning for availability of needed resources, and assisting in the development of production schedules.
  • Maintains safe work habits and adheres to correct use of proper personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains an awareness of safety-sensitive work and surroundings. Responsible to identify and report potential and actual hazards to persons and property.
  • Completes and maintains all required paperwork, records, and documentation.
  • Assists in initiating new processes and product development and implementation.
  • Engages with and provides exceptional customer service to vendors and customers in support of assigned projects.
  • Considers product/component pricing from suppliers to maximize gross margin and cash flow without sacrificing product quality.
  • Seeks out opportunities to build new skills. Develops good work habits to ensure a high quality of work is accomplished.
  • Completes all assigned tasks according to team project schedule and budgets.
  • Assists in production of SOPs and other beneficial process mapping.
  • Participates in the successful implementation of identified process improvements initiatives.
  • Effectively and proficiently navigates AirCorps’ online and physical libraries to access part drawings, manuals, and other resources.
  • Efficiently and proficiently uses Harvest, Redbooth, and BuildBook software to communicate project needs with other team members and monitor task completions.
  • Works efficiently and with minimal supervision within defined quality standards to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Adapts to changing tasks and project requirements.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  •  Be able to read, write, and speak English clearly.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically 25-50% of the time to support customer projects. Future international travel is possible.
  • Minimum 2-year Technical Degree.
  • Familiar with 3D Scan-to-CAD technologies and experienced with CAD software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effectively and proficiently uses computer-based and online software and systems daily.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to perform work on scaffolding or ladders.
  • Must be able to lift and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must have manual dexterity and physical strength necessary to operate 3D scanning equipment for prolonged periods.
  • Desired experience, education or training in manufacturing.

Compensation: $21-$31/hr
