Technical Records Specialist

SUMMARY:

The Technical Records Specialist helps facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Library department. Responsibilities of this position will vary based on the immediate needs of AirCorps employees, and how they require interaction with both digital and printed research materials. The ideal candidate enjoys historical research, archival tasks, and brings critical thinking into every project they take on. Knowledge of aircraft structures and systems is a benefit, but not a requirement of this position.

Responsibilities and Authorities:

  • Functions as a day to day resource for AirCorps Aviation employees who require assistance locating resources.
  • Manages additions and upkeep of internal library organizational structure, and sorts and organizes large donated collections of materials.
  • Printing and distributing drawings and manuals when requested by AirCorps employees.
  • Renaming sets of microfilm as necessary and uploading them to the AirCorps Library website.
  • Performing AirCorps Library site maintenance tasks such as clearing user descriptions.
  • Notifying Library members of new additions to the site via the weekly email.
  • Work with AirCorps shop employees to proactively identify and respond to resource needs.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Job knowledge through suitable education or prior work experience.
  • Prior experience in preservation and library sciences preferred, but willing to train motivated employee.
  • Has excellent computer skills and learns new software programs quickly.
  • Typing speed: 60-70 words per minute.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and pull objects weighing up to 40 pounds at a time.
